Mathew Knowles Ordered to Pay Temporary Child Support

Mathew Knowles, father and manager of singer Beyonce Knowles (and father-in-law of rapper Jay-Z), has been ordered to pay Alexsandra Wright $8,200 a month in child support for her son Nixon Wright. Little Nixon was born on February 4, 2010. The child support order is a temporary one though.

Earlier this week, a Los Angeles judge issued the support order, retroactive to February 1. Knowles must also pay 100% of uninsured medical costs related to Wright’s pregnancy and childbirth as well as other baby-related expenses, setting the figure at $20,750 for the month of January. Knowles reportedly already paid about $10,000 for hospital bills.

Wright claims she had an 18-month relationship with Knowles and he is Nixon’s father. Knowles has not denied paternity (but has not admitted it either). A DNA test is scheduled for March 1.

Wright is represented by family law attorney Neal Hersh. Knowles’ attorney is celebrity lawyer Lance Spiegel.

Mathew Knowles is currently involved in another family law matter as well – a divorce from his wife of many years, Tina Knowles.

Beyonce’s Mom, Tina Knowles, Files for Divorce from Mathew Knowles

Tina Knowles, mother of singer Beyonce Knowles, has filed for divorce from her husband Mathew Knowles. Tina Knowles apparently filed last month in Harris County, Texas. The couple has been married for almost 31 years.

The divorce paperwork indicates that the couple separated last January. Back in October, Mathew Knowles was served with a paternity lawsuit filed in California by another woman. At the time, this woman was six months pregnant – so it now appears that the pregnancy happened after Mathew and Tina Knowles split.

The Knowles have two grown children: Beyonce and her younger sister, Solange (who is also a singer). Mathew Knowles was the manager of Beyonce’s group Destiny’s Child and is currently managing her solo career. Tina Knowles was Destiny Child’s costume designer and now designs for Beyonce’s fashion label, House of Dereon.

Because of their involvement with Beyonce’s (and to a lesser degree, Solange’s) career over the years, the Knowles are likely very wealthy. They each appear to have active careers (however tied to Beyonce’s that they might be).

As Texas is a community property state, the Knowles will very likely split their marital assets and debts equally. Unless one or the other entered the marriage with substantial property or inherited property during the marriage, all of their wealth is likely to be considered community property and available for equal distribution.

Beyonce’s Dad Hit with Paternity Suit

TMZ.com is reporting that singer Beyonce’s father/manager Mathew Knowles is facing a paternity suit in Los Angeles. Alexsandra Wright, 38, filed suit in Los Angeles County Superior Court, alleging that Knowles is the father of her unborn baby.

Wright is six months pregnant and, according to TMZ, works in the “name-branding business” (but appeared in one episode of the sitcom Scrubs back in 2001 and one episode of JAG in 1999, according to IMDB.com). Knowles has been married to Beyonce’s mother, Tina Knowles since 1980.

Sources say Wright is represented by Hollywood family law attorney Neal Hersh, who currently represents Lamar Odom in prenup negotiations with Khloe Kardashian and has previously represented Kim Basinger, Brad Pitt, Pamela Anderson and Halle Berry.

Neither Knowles nor Hersh has made any public comment at this time.

By filing a paternity suit, Wright seeks a determination of the legal parentage of her child, a custody and visitation order upon the birth of the child, an award of prenatal and delivery expenses and a judgment of child support. All of this assumes though that Knowles will either admit fathering the child or will be proven the father after DNA testing.
