Married for seven years and battling in court over a divorce and child custody for seven additional years, actors Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger have one of the more acrimonious Hollywood relationships on record. Baldwin now plans to release a book detailing his divorce and custody experiences and offering commentary on the family law process. It’s probably safe to say that he won’t be complimentary.

“A Promise to Ourselves: Fatherhood, Divorce, and Family Law” by Baldwin with Mark Tabb won’t be out until Sept. 23, but is available for pre-sale on Amazon.com. According to the book’s publisher St. Martin’s Press, Baldwin’s book is a “pulls-no-punches” account of “his experiences with judges, marriage counselors, and lawyers” and will “lay bare the details of his contentious divorce litigation” from Basinger.

Baldwin has complained in the courts for years that Basinger has violated custody and visitation orders with regard to their daughter, Ireland. He asserts that he is the victim of Basinger’s purposeful campaign of parental alienation. Baldwin, current star of the NBC comedy “30 Rock”, made tabloid front pages last year when he left a voice mail for Ireland, then 11, calling her a “thoughtless little pig” after she failed to answer a pre-arranged phone call.

Promotion of Baldwin’s book begins this weekend.
