Lost’s Naveen Andrews Gets Custody of Son 0

Naveen AndrewsActor Naveen Andrews was awarded temporary sole legal and physical custody of his three year old son yesterday in Los Angeles. Andrews, who plays Sayid on TV’s Lost, asked the court to give Naveen Joshua to him pending the resolution of a pending custody battle with the boy’s mother Elana Eustache. Andrews and Eustache previously had joint custody of their son.

Andrews alleged that Eustache violated a custody agreement by taking their son out of Los Angeles County without permission (from Andrews or the court) and keeping Andrews from him. It is not unusual for custody orders to prohibit parents from removing a child from a particular geographic area or court jurisdiction without the consent of the other parent or the approval of the court.

Eustache claims that Andrews’ girlfriend, actress Barbara Hershey, practices witchcraft and that Andrews and Hershey were poisoning the boy. Andrews’ attorney Laura Wasser asked the court to order Eustache to undergo psychiatric evaluation.

Andrews will be allowed to take Naveen Joshua to Hawaii with him when filming on Lost resumes. Either Andrews or Hershey is allowed to care for the boy, according to the court.

Eustache became pregnant after a brief affair with Andrews in 2005, when he was separated from Hershey. Andrews, 39, has been with Hershey, 60, since 1998. He also has a 17 year old son from a previous relationship.

The custody case is set to resume next month with a full hearing on these issues.
