James Caan Files for Fourth Divorce

Actor James Caan filed for divorce this week from wife Linda Stokes. The couple has been married for 14 years and has two children together.

Caan filed paperwork to make the split permanent in Los Angeles County Superior Court, citing “irreconcilable differences”. This is Caan’s fourth marriage.

And it’s the second time he has filed for divorce from Linda. Caan filed back in 2005 but dismissed the case a month later. He is seeking joint custody of sons James, 14, and Jacob, 11.

His rep issued the requisite Hollywood statement, “We have two beautiful kids together and will remain great friends. Everything will be fine.”

Caan has three other children from previous marriages – from ages 45 to 18. Due to these other kids and the fact that Caan has been successful in Hollywood for four decades now, it would be surprising to learn that there was NOT a prenuptial agreement in effect here. If that is the case, property distribution and spousal support will be determined according to the terms of such an agreement. Child custody and child support cannot be determined via a prenup – so those details will still have to be hammered out.
