Phil Collins’ Divorce Costs More than McCartney’s 0

Phil Collins & Orianne Cevey

’80’s hitmaker Phil Collins has settled his divorce from third wife Orianne Cevey. The £25 million ($46.76 million) cash payout to Cevey tops the Paul McCartney-Heather Mills divorce settlement (£24.3 million).

Collins and Cevey have reportedly been separated since late 2006. They were married in 1999 and have two sons, ages 8 and 4. Apparently, both parties will continue to live and raise their children in Switzerland. Collins met Swiss-born Cevey when she was 22 and a translator working on his 1994 tour. He was still married to his second wife, Jill Tavelman (with whom he has one daughter). The divorce from Tavelman reportedly cost Collins $34 million.

This latest divorce propels Collins solidly onto the most expensive celebrity divorces list. While pre-nuptial agreements do not carry the force of law in the United Kingdom (and I’m not sure about the enforceability of a pre-nup in Switzerland), maybe Collins should look a little closer at protecting his wealth before his next trip down the aisle.
