Sharon Stone Loses Joint Custody of Son 1

About: Entertainers

Sharon & RoanActress Sharon Stone lost joint physical custody of her 8-year-old son, Roan, to her ex-husband, Phil Bronstein, according to court documents.

The Superior Court’s minutes from September 12th indicate that a judge ordered Roan to remain with Bronstein unless Stone moves to San Francisco or unless Bronstein decides to leave San Francisco.  Stone had apparently sought a modification in custody – possibly to move Roan from the Bay Area to wherever Stone now resides (presumably Los Angeles). Bronstein now has permanent sole physical custody.  (The use of the term “permanent” is somewhat misleading because custody arrangements can always be modified in the future in appropriate circumstances.) Roan apparently attends school in the Bay Area, where Bronstein has lived for many years.

The court did not find that moving the child would be in his best interests and stated that Bronstein could “provide a more structured continuity, stable, secure, and consistent home that child, Roan, needs.” Stone is to have access to her son and her phone number is to be programmed into his telephone.

Bronstein and Stone divorced after six years of marriage in 2004, the same year they adopted Roan.  They have shared joint legal and physical custody of their son for at least the last year.  Stone adopted two other boys after the divorce from Bronstein.
