Eddie Murphy to Pay $50K A Month in Child Support

Actor Eddie Murphy has agreed to pay $50,000 a month in child support for his young daughter with former Spice Girl Melanie Brown. Murphy and the pop singer dated for six months in 2006. Murphy ended their relationship on a television show while Brown was several months pregnant.

Murphy then vehemently denied that he was the father of Brown’s child – a girl named Angel Iris, now almost two years old. DNA tests proved otherwise and the former lovebirds have been locked in litigation ever since.

For over a year, these two have battled over support for Angel. Murphy has reportedly never exercised any visitation with the child. Earlier this month, though, the $50,000 figure was agreed upon.  Murphy apparently has also agreed to finally see his daughter. Media reports indicate that they have signed a non-disclosure agreement which prohibits either from discussing the case in the press.

Both Murphy and Brown (formerly known as Scary Spice) remarried soon after Angel’s birth. Brown married producer Stephen Belafonte in early summer 2007. Murphy “married” Tracey Edmonds in 2008 – although the marriage wasn’t legal and the couple split two weeks later.

Brown has a daughter from a previous marriage. Murphy has seven other children from a previous marriage and two other relationships.
