Anne Heche Divorce Really Final This Time 0

About: Entertainers

The celebrity magazines were abuzz today with reports that actress Anne Heche’s divorce from Coleman Laffoon was finalized. Again.

You’ll recall that the two set aside their rather bitter differences and settled their divorce case last June. We detailed the specifics of the Heche-Laffoon settlement here at that time.

They basically split their assets. Heche paid Laffoon a lump sum to equalize the proceeds from the sale of the marital home. Heche agreed to pay Laffoon $3,700 per month in child support for their 6 year old son, Homer. The former couple shares custody of the boy. Laffoon waived any claim to spousal support.

Back in June, the couple was set to go to trial but settled at the last minute. As often occurs, they (and their attorneys) advised the judge on the record of the details of the settlement and a divorce was granted on the condition that the divorce attorneys would prepare the written judgment and submit it to the court for signature.

Well, it looks like it took nine months for that written judgment to make its way to the courthouse. The document signed by the judge and filed last week includes the same agreement we reported last June with some additional details regarding marital financial assets. In my experience, even a “settled” case can get derailed in the details of a written agreement, which is what appears to have happened here.

In any event, the divorce is really, really final now. Which is good because Heche is currently expecting a baby with her boyfriend and ex-co-star James Tupper .

Of all the media outlets reporting this legal procedure as big news, RadarOnline made the biggest gaffe. It reported that, as part of the settlement, Laffoon would “keep his home in Vancouver.” A quick read of the judgment, however, reveals that the Vancouver home is – and always was –  Heche’s. In fact, that is the home she shared with Tupper for several years after the marital split.

(Sidenote: Lafoon, a former cameraman, now works as a real estate agent in Los Angeles. For Hilton & Hyland Real Estate, owned by Rick Hilton, father of Paris Hilton. And now you know.)
