Title 9 of the Arkansas Legislature is “Family Law.” Title 9, Subtitle 2, Chapter 11 is where you can find the Arkansas Marriage Code and all relevant sections, which describe in detail the laws that affect marriage in Arkansas.
Although you can view all the Arkansas statutes at arkleg.state.ar.us, the site does not allow direct links to specific marriage statutes (if you know otherwise, please tell us). Here’s how to find the Marriage Laws (you can view these instructions along with instructional screen shots in the How to Find the Arkansas Marriage Statutes Online PDF):
1) Go to ‘arkleg.state.ar.us’ (by clicking the link above) and then click ‘Arkansas Code’.
2) Click on ‘HTML’ tab and then click ‘Arkansas Code (Non annotated)’.
3) Click ‘Title 9 – Family Law’ and then click the ‘Subtitle 2. Domestic Relations’.
4) Click on the Chapters for the Information You’re Seeking.
A few of the important chapters related to Arkansas marriage are:
My mother and her husband live in Arkansas. When she married him for the second time we know she didnt use her birth name. She used the name she was going by so are they legally married?
question: When i got married in arkansas i did not know that my husband was common law married in oklahoma. So I want to know if i am legally married to this man in arkansas, if so what do i do about the marriage in oklahoma, if not legally married in arkansas then what proof do i need to get this marriage off record?
I recently got married. Is it a legal requirement for my wife to change her last name to mine? She is using her name from her first marriage not her maiden name.
Thank You
My Husband & I are in the middle of filing for divorce, here in Arkansas, He is engaged to be married again on Jan. 1, 2012, our divorce will not be finalized til the end of Sept. of 2011. I was wondering if there is a waiting period before we remarry anyone else, & how long the waiting period is in the State of Arkansas.
Thank you
