Dwyane Wade Sues Estranged Wife and Her Lawyers

NBA superstar Dwyane Wade filed suit against his estranged wife Siohvaughn Wade and two of her lawyers today for defamation for accusing him of infecting her with a sexually transmitted disease he allegedly contracted through an extramarital affair.

Siohvaughn Wade made the claims in their pending divorce case last month and later withdrew the claim without comment. Wade now alleges that those statements defamed him, caused “embarrassment” and “humiliation” and damaged his earning potential. He is quoted as stating that he “had no other choice but to file this action in order to clear my name.”

Wade’s new lawsuit names Siohvaughn and her divorce attorneys Michael Berger and Dorene Marcus as defendants, along with their firms.

“We believe there’s absolutely no merit to it,” Berger said. “I believe that the lawsuit will get dismissed. It seems interesting to me Wade would file a lawsuit like this when he supposedly wants to keep a low profile. This lawsuit will put his entire private and social life in full view of the public.” Berger added that, although the initial claim has been withdrawn in the divorce case, Siohvaughn stands behind the truthfulness of those allegations.

The Wades were high school sweethearts, married during college in 2002 and have two children. The divorce has been pending for over a year and doesn’t look like it will be ending soon.
